Stroke Stories

Understanding the stroke experience

Patient Voices

These stories have been made available by Pilgrim Projects ltd through their site, Patient Voices. They were a collaborative project between Connect, the National Audit Office and Pilgrim Projects, created in support of Reducing Brain Damage: faster access to better stroke care, the National Audit Office report on stroke care.

It is hoped that these stories, and others like them will have a powerful impact on the way service providers respond to the needs of patients and will ultimately lead to an improvement in services, quality of care and the patient experience.

The movie clips are Windows Media Video (.wmv) files. To play them you will need Microsoft Windows Media Player. This comes with most recent versions of Windows, but if you have an older version of Windows, or need to reinstall Windows Media Player, you can download it from the Microsoft website.

To save a movie to your own computer, right click on the link and select Save target as.

Stories have been adapted to each successive medium that has emerged, from the circle of the campfire to the silver screen, and now the computer screen.
