Stroke Stories

Understanding the stroke experience

Story Library

The digital stories and transcripts of the narratives recorded in NHS Lanarkshire can be accessed from this story library.

The library also allows you to view the videos and listen to audio clips that have been produced by DIPEX and Patient Voices. These organisations each demonstrate a different approach to capturing stroke patient or carer stories, but share the desire to increase our understanding of the stroke experience.

Please enjoy making use of the following:

NHS Lanarksire Stroke MCN Digital Stories
A collection of nine stories shared by members of the NHS Lanarkshire Stroke Managed Clinical Network Patient and Carer group
ETHoS Narratives
Mo and Linda told their stories as part of the project within NHS Lanarkshire to create an environment of care, at the centre of which was the patient experience
Patient Voices
The Patient Voices series by Pilgrim Projects are a powerful illustration of patients' experiences of stroke.
Dipex Stroke Stories
Dipex have conducted a number of interviews with people who have experienced stroke. The results are presented in audio as well as video format and provide a resource of answers to questions surrounding stroke and the effects of a stroke.

Stories have been adapted to each successive medium that has emerged, from the circle of the campfire to the silver screen, and now the computer screen.
